  • Bob Miller

    LEAD PASTor

    I have served as the Lead Pastor of Wellspring since its inception in 2006. My typical week as a pastor, if there is such a thing, includes studying and sermon preparation, guiding and encouraging our staff, counseling those in need, developing and maintaining relationships, and working alongside our Advisory Board and staff to provide leadership and direction for the future of Wellspring. I met my wife, Kristin, when we were both students at Missouri State University. We were married on July 18, 1992. We have 4 children: Zac, Kylie, Kenzie and Zavier.

    Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Missouri State University (1991)

    Master’s Degree in Guidance Counseling from Central Missouri State University (1998)

    Master’s Degree in Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary (2010)


    Hobbies/Interests:

    I love coaching my children and currently serve as the Head Cross Country Coach at Central High School, where several Wellspring kids are a part of our team. I enjoy running, basketball, softball, golf, and usually have a book or two always at the ready for a free moment. 

  • Justin amos

    Associate Pastor

    I started working as the Associate Pastor of Wellspring in July of 2011. Some of my roles at Wellspring include leading our Summer Internship each year, serving as the small group director, and sharing some of the teaching responsibilities on Sunday mornings. I married my beautiful wife, Sara, in May 2012. We have three children: Makenna, Mya and Noah.  


    Education:

    Bachelor’s Degree in Music from Missouri Western State University (2007)

    Master’s Degree in Theological Studies from Liberty University (2011)

    Currently pursuing MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Concordia University Irvine


    Hobbies/Interests:

    I love playing drums and enjoy all kinds of music. I'm also very interested in mental health and love learning and helping others in this area. Finally, I'm a diehard Kansas City Chiefs fan!!!!!

  • KENNY ATKINS

    Worship & Youth director

    I grew up 20 miles north of St Joseph. I joined the Wellspring staff in September of 2020. Before Wellspring, I spent two years serving on church staff in Havre, Montana. My role at Wellspring is to develop and equip high school students to foster a deep relationship with Christ. I also help oversee Sunday morning service by serving as the Worship Director. I am excited to be at Wellspring and work alongside fellow believers who have the same passion and desire to see this community and church continue to develop their relationship with Jesus.


    Education: Bachelor of Arts in Student Ministry from Ozark Christian College (2018)


    Hobbies: I enjoy most outdoor activities. My favorites are fishing, hiking, camping, traveling, hunting, and snowboarding. I enjoy eating and making unique and exotic foods. I am also a die hard Kansas City Chiefs fan.

  • Brittney Robertson

    elementary Children's director

    I was born and raised in St. Joseph. I went on full-time staff with Wellspring in June of 2017. My role is to ignite a desire for a genuine relationship with Christ among the school-aged children in our church and community. I desire to prepare our children for a life of serving and knowing the Lord. It is also my goal to encourage and equip parents to thrive as the primary spiritual leaders for their children. My husband, Matthew, and I have been together since we were 17 and were married in December of 2012. We have three children: Arthur, Alice and Edith.

    Hobbies/Interests:

    I really enjoy being in community with friends and family. I love spending time with my husband and kids, and going on family walks. I also enjoy cooking, reading, working out, and I dabble in essential oils.

    birth-Pre-k Children's Director

    I have lived in St. Joseph my entire life. I started attending Wellspring when I was 16 years old and it was the first church I attended where I really felt cared for. After having children of my own, God really stirred in my heart a desire to teach small children about who He is and how much He loves them. I started working at Wellspring in August of 2019 and I am very thankful to be a part of this church and this community of believers who are so passionate about spreading the Gospel and loving people. I married my wonderful husband, Taylor, in December of 2013 and we have four precious and wild little boys: Titus, Armor, Valor and Waters.

    Bachelors Degree in Secondary Education (English) from the University of Missouri (2014)


    Hobbies/Interests: 

    I spend the majority of my time taking care of my boys (all 5 if you count my husband), running or working out, being with friends and family, and I’m always up for trying new foods or recipes. I get great joy out of pursuing people and sharing the love of Christ with them and have recently found a passion for drinking coffee after I turned 30.

  • Kenzie Miller

    middle school director

    I have gone to Wellspring Community Church since I was 5 years old and have been a part of the elementary, middle school, and high school ministries as well as participating in the summer internship! I am on part-time staff at Wellspring. My job is to invest in and build relationships with middle school kids and to help further their desire to know Christ and live life with him! I was greatly impacted by my previous youth group leaders and strive to impact the middle schoolers now and to help them learn what it means to have an individual relationship with Christ!

    I'm currently a student at Missouri Western State University


    Hobbies/ Interests:

    I enjoy running, hiking, and reading! I love spending time with my family and friends. I also love getting coffee with people and talking about life!

  • KRISTIN MILLER

    Family Life Ministry Director

    I have been at Wellspring since the beginning in 2006. I have served in many roles throughout my years at Wellspring! After teaching middle school students for several years in the St. Joseph School District, I recently felt God leading me to begin a new ministry centering around availability and presence in the lives of young women and families.  Through relational ministry, my desire is to walk alongside families in ways that help them connect with God and one another. I married my husband, Bob, in 1992. We have four children – Zac (married to Sam), Kylie, Kenzie and Zavier.  We were recently blessed with our first grandson – Leif.

    Hobbies/Interests:

    I love spending time with my family and friends!  I enjoy playing games, hiking and watching or playing sports.  I also enjoy helping coach the Central cross country team with my husband and daughter.

  • Marissa Purvis

    all in Ministry Director & Hospitality director

    I was raised in Des Moines Iowa and moved to St. Joseph in 2007. After moving here, I taught 6th grade for two years and then I opened an in-home daycare that I ran for 5 years. I served as the Birth-Pre-K Director of Wellspring for several years and I recently accepted a part-time position at Wellspring as the All In Ministry Director. My role will be coming alongside and offering support to families in our congregation engaged in adoption and foster care. I also help oversee the Wellspring hospitality team. My husband, Brady and I were married in 2010 and we have five precious children.

    I love hanging out with my family and our kids, running, tennis, traveling and being with friends.

  • MATT ROBERTSON

    creative ministry director

    I have been an art educator since 2014. The creativity of God and the imagery of The Bible has always captivated me and stirred my creative enthusiasm. My role is to lead a team of artists to steward the gift of creativity by showcasing and celebrating the Grand Story of God and His people. I am passionate about people experiencing and understanding the healing power of the Gospel and community. I am married to my high school sweetheart, Brit and we have 3 beautiful children: Arthur, Alice, & Edith.

    Bachelor's Degree in Art Education from Missouri Western State University (2014)


    Hobbies/Interests:

    Avid indoorsman. I have an affection for paper & ink, with which I enjoy drawing, reading, and writing. I have a deep fondness for "The Lord of the Rings" by J.R.R. Tolkien and the works of C.S. Lewis.

  • JACK FRAZIER

    MEdia Director

    I grew up in Kansas City, but was invited into St. Joe when Bob Miller asked me to do the summer internship in 2017. As the Media Director, my role is to create an online presence and personality for Wellspring. I strive to create content that is both creative and engaging. My biggest goals are to keep church members connected and to produce Christ-like content in an ever-growing digital world.

    Bachelor’s Degree in Interactive Digital Media & Content Strategies from Northwest Missouri State University (2020)


    Hobbies/Interests: 

    I really enjoy spending time with my German shepherd, Juno. I’m passionate about running and making music. I love photography and being in community.

  • olivia nichols

    office administrator

    I was raised in a small, rural town in Nebraska and went to school to become a registered dietitian. My husband, Rob, and I moved to St. Joseph after we were married in 2016 and have been attending Wellspring since 2018. We volunteer with Young Life College through the church and love meeting and investing in the lives of our college friends from MWSU. After working as a dietitian for several years, I transitioned into the role of office administrator for Wellspring in the beginning of 2020 when we had our first child, Liam, so I could be a (mostly) stay-at-home mom.

    Bachelor’s of Science degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln


    Hobbies/Interestes:

    Rob and I bought an old (1850s!) home in St. Joseph and find a lot of joy in renovating it. When we aren’t working on the house, you might find us disc golfing, cooking, hiking or playing board games.

    Facilities Director

    I oversee all projects relating to the church building. My wife, Erin, and I have been married for over 20 years. We have four boys: Max, Ben, Sam and George.

    BSBA in Economics, Missouri Western


    Hobbies/Interests:

    I enjoy Malcolm Gladwell, Freakonomics, Donald Miller and Storyline, Bob Goff, storytelling, and filmmaking, and trying to blend them all into building a better me. I also like words and numbers.

Advisory Board

The Wellspring Advisory Board ensures accountable leadership through a three-fold role of leading, protecting, and advising/giving consent to the senior pastor and staff. The board holds the responsibility for providing ongoing personal encouragement and support to the pastor and staff and we stand together with the pastoral leadership to protect the God-given identity and values of Wellspring Community Church. The Board is comprised of:
